Ben Sira wrote in Hebrew in Jerusalem during the early second century BCE. His work belongs directly to the continuing Hebrew wisdom tradition rather than originating as a Greek composition.
NLDG is not reproducing a complete translation yet.
Sirach has an unusually complex textual history because modern translators compare Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Syriac witnesses. Before NLDG hosts a complete text, we will verify translation rights, textual basis, numbering differences, and how to explain places where surviving textual traditions differ.
