Who God Says You Are

A Message from Dexter

The world is quick to place labels on us.

People may define us by where we come from, the mistakes we have made, our political beliefs, our health, our occupation, our education, or what they think we should become. Sometimes we even begin repeating those labels to ourselves.

But none of those things have the final word.

God does.

Before anyone formed an opinion about you, God knew you. Before you accomplished anything, failed at anything, or proved yourself to anyone, you were already created in His image.

That does not mean our choices are unimportant. It means our identity is not determined by the worst thing we have done, the hardest thing we have experienced, or the expectations other people place upon us.

You are more than a label.

You were designed by God.

Beyond the Label

Ephesians 2:10 calls us God’s workmanship. That word describes something intentionally made, not something carelessly thrown together.

Your life is not an accident. God did not make a mistake when He made you.

Many of us spend years trying to become whatever will earn the approval of other people. We change how we speak, hide parts of our story, compare ourselves to others, and chase labels that promise value.

Even positive labels can become prisons when we depend on them to tell us who we are.

Jesus offers something different. He invites us to receive our identity from our Creator and then live from that identity.

You do not serve God to earn your worth. You serve because God has already given your life purpose.

You do not love people so they will approve of you. You love because you have already been loved by God.

You do not have to pretend that you have everything together. You can bring your whole life to Christ and allow Him to transform you.

The world may describe what it sees. God speaks to what He created you to become.

Put It into Practice

This month, begin each day by asking three questions:

1. What label am I carrying today?
2. Is that label consistent with what God says about me?
3. How can I live today as someone designed by God?

Then choose one action that reflects your identity in Christ. Forgive someone. Encourage someone. Admit where you need help. Use a gift God has given you. Take one faithful step toward the work He has placed before you.

Identity in Christ is not only something we say. It changes how we live.

Prayer

God, help me release every label that has spoken louder than Your truth. Remind me that I am Your workmanship, created intentionally and loved completely. Show me where I have allowed my past, my struggles, or the opinions of others to define me. Teach me to see myself through Your eyes and to live out the purpose You have given me. Amen.
